Hey all- I feel like I have always seen conflicted suggestions on when to leave and what position to leave for. I am an S2 (manager promo would be next year) making 80k in MCOL in audit. I have an offer for a senior accountant position with equity grant at hire and 100k base, no annual bonus. I feel like the base increase is more than I thought I could get, but is that true? Do I need to look for a different position in industry, or do I need to stay until manager? Any thoughts much appreciated

80k seems low for S2 if you’re in true MCOL. When do you find out your adjustment for this year? I would expect that number to be at least 90ish and with your bonus it would probably be about the same. In terms of comp I’d say you’d be better off just staying at least until manager but if you’d rather leave for other reasons such as WLB, thats a different story. Id still say push for more though if you go to industry (especially if no bonus) as raises are much lower annually.

Either way, if manager promo is next year you’d be worse off financially for leaving as I would imagine M1 comp is around $100k and you’d still get a bonus. Given that there aren’t any guaranteed raises/promos in industry, you’d be better off trying to get a higher base. If your goal is to just chill and do a remote job that pays a decent income and you’re less concerned with growth then go for it.

Since you have an offer, wouldn’t hurt to ask for a raise.

I’m not sure I would get anywhere with us currently being in yearend review already

Hi how much in hand for 15LPA. 1.5lac is variable.

Just found out that end of the year I will be promoted from analyst directly to VP and since it’s such a large jump I’ll be the lowest paid VP in asset management at only $135k TC. Should I stay it out and wait for TC to align or take the promotion and jump ship bc I will likely get paid more elsewhere given how recruiters/other companies eat up hiring recently promoted ppl from other firms?
