Hey all, I’ve recently joined EY consulting from another Big 4 and have noticed there’s no discipline (at least in my team) around codes and charging time. People either charge a standard 7 hrs or some will charge time spent on internal activities to their client code.

I was told that “the last person to charge their actual hours worked was promptly booted off the project”.
Just wondering:
1) Is this a general cultural point accross all Consulting teams? Will challengin this get me in trouble?

2) From Leadership’s perspective, wouldn’t you want people to charge their time accurately to the right codes, so that you can plan for demand and understand how much effort various internal initiatives require? (As in, do you use stats from Timesheet reports to make decisions or nah)

I found their approach bonkers. Basically it’ll get changed by the Partner if you put over the hours.
The UK is the only country this happens, worked in Denmark with the firm there and they put actual hours in 15min blocks to the client.

Definitely feel free to book all of your hours and report anyone that tells you otherwise to your counsellor or Service Line Leader.

Book full 8 hours.. everyday every second every year

I am a current PE associate who was placed by CPI in 2021. I want to lateral to another PE firm but soooo many PE firms use CPI as their headhunter. CPI is contractually prohibited from sending me lateral opportunities because my firm is a CPI client (and CPI would lose their commission if I left before my 1 year was up). How do I apply for associate roles at CPI clients (which most PE firms are) given this?

Let's say 115k base salary.

Producers: myself and other freelance editor friends have a question we’re struggling with. Why do people so often reach out and ask us for holds with no information what the project is? A lot of us won’t give 1st holds without making sure it’s something we are interested in so this seems like a lose-lose for all of us. I do understand if there’s an NDA situation involved but often I get literally no details and am just told things like ‘we have a project coming up’. Any insight? Thank you!

Hey! Is there gym at EY Uk office or around that area? What fitness classes options are available around that area?

Hi guys, I am due to start working at EY soon within audit.

I will be commuting to the office by train when in the Birmingham office. This will be from Leicester.

Usually if a commute is about 1.5 hours+, Mazars authorises hotels. Is there a similar policy at EY?

When not in the office I would prefer to drive to clients, not sure if me being in Leicester affects whether they will tell me to suck up an extended commute? Would a mileage claim be from the office to the client?

Thanks!

Ive accepted an offer going from a SM role to M role at EY in the CCas team , London office. Can anyone confirm how often one needs to come into the office, as my commute is from Hampshire . In my current role I rarely go to the office, i.e once every few months (also in London) and am considering backing out due to the additional commuting cost and less flexible work life balance.
