Hey! I’m heading to a tradeshow this next week. I also want to network to find a new job, any tips?

I have never been able to network effectively in those events! For some people these places are a nightmare lol. Good luck with your search.

Unless you are attending a career fair, it may be more professional and strategic to network to gain long-term industry contacts and build a professional rapport for referrals at a later date — job hunting at industry events can be seen as tacky.

Tradeshows are perfect for low pressure networking. Go in curious, not salesy. Ask people what problem they are solving right now and listen. If the chat flows, mention you are exploring new roles and ask who else you should meet. Follow up within a day with a short note that reminds them where you met.

Bring a resume and make sure your LinkedIn is up.to date.

Smart move. Bring a one-liner about what you’re looking for and a recent project you’re proud of. And don’t underestimate casual convos at coffee stations—they’re often more memorable than formal chats.

I don't think trade shows are the best places for job hunting TBH

I’m a first year associate (almost second year). I work at a national firm and I’m not a litigator. When I started with the firm, I was told I could work out of any office. Long story short, I regret choosing the office that I chose. I’d like to transfer to another office - is that a difficult ask? I’m licensed in the state I’d like to transfer to. I don’t know how to make this request.

Hi everyone, I have a question. I am currently in the middle on of an interview process, where I am quite confident that I will get the job... but I want to work for another company that has contacted me 1 week ago to interview but hasn't scheduled the interview yet....

Meaning that their interview process is probably going to take longer... how should I reach out to the company and properly let them know my situation?

I posted this somewhere else before I remembered that I am in this bowl :) so, I changed jobs 6-7 months ago and I am realizing it is not a good fit. Leadership seem to not want to hear the truth so people tell them what they want to hear and if you don’t middle management gets pissed at you. I am seriously thinking about looking somewhere else. My question is how do you answer the “why are you looking to leave” question without bad mouthing your current company?

I have a friend who was let go a few months into his first job after college (reason: the manager felt like he wasn't grasping the training content to the level that was expected). He's worried about if he should put the experience on his resume anyway, if he does will recruiters ask why he had such a short time at this place, and what will recruiters think if he explains he was let go. What are some things recruiters expect from candidates in this situation to continue considering them?

Why are there so many job postings that I have applied for but nothing happening? Are the jobs that are posted truly open? I know we are in 4th quarter and wasn’t sure if corporation’s like to hire then?
