Hey ladies! Vulnerable question for you. Do you have favorites at work? I do, and genuinely because I cannot help but admire their work ethic, sincerity, and general zeal at the office. If yes, do you usually let them know or hold off because you're afraid you're going to be charged for favoritism? :D

We all deny we have favorites. But that is such bs. There are always employees that we would rather work with. In some cases we may just vibe better with them. Other cases they just make our job easier.

Not many leaders come on to gush about their employees, so kudos to you for recognizing the hustle and appreciating it. You may not need to communicate that you favor them at all. It may not land well and may actually negatively impact their current efforts. Invest in growing them if you see them being a rockstar. That's an objective way to showcase your appreciation of their work and attitude. Growth does not only mean title and pay increases, it also means good projects, more exposure and visibility with leadership to put them in the pipeline for promotions. Please remember that growing them also means letting them go on to bigger and better opportunities. All stars need to rise within the company, but be assured that your efforts will have contributed in their career growth.

Much to reflect on with this topic. Last week I was told in a 1:1 with a new contact that I was “too direct”. After some time chewing on the conversation I was struggling to place the emotions I was feeling. Turns out I was feeling guilty and shame for being me, for taking up space. Lesson of the week: unsolicited advice is a criticism of you, a micro aggression of who you are, and being “too much”. What would you do??

My manager got hired with 0 actual sales experience, comes from operations and marketing. It’s impossible to take any of his advice seriously, he ends team meetings and messages with “always be closing”. Like tf you know about closing, go back to making your PowerPoints.

I'm in negotiation with the this data company (which is only 10 % over offered fixed ctc) but HR hasn't shown much confidence. They have asked for week's time & say can only offer a signing bonus. I'm getting a bit nervous as it's an opportunity I've always wanted!
