Hey! Our company is looking to implement a basic tech skills assessment; preferably simulation style of google workspace (i.e sending emails, google sheets, & google docs). We are not wanting to exclude anyone from hire, more so get an overview on where they stand tech wise so we know what training to provide them upon hire.

Is your company using any pre-hire assessments? If so, through what company? Thanks!!

Unless you plan to pay the candidates for their time to do this, I wouldn’t. It’s a major turn off to candidates.

I don’t do free work after being taken for a ride and my work stolen and used during a hiring process.

I see what you’re saying. We’re not asking them to do any work. More so like a simulation that asks “Click on where to go to start a new email”, “where to go to reply all”, open a google sheet.

We are finding that candidates state they know basic computer skills and really don’t.

I currently make 78k at Lockheed but I’m not doing what I’d like to be doing and i felt stuck and after many conversations with my manager and no solution in sight, I started applying elsewhere. I just recently got an offer from a smaller AI company for 95k that I plan to accept. I’m happy to make the jump, I just don’t know how my manager/coworkers will react when I tell them I’m leaving.

Anyone hiring those who have been out of work for a year? I took time off to tend to personal matters, but I am now looking to get back into the workforce again. My previous experience includes time at B4 audit up to senior level and then transitioned to manager in industry. Senior/manager roles are preferred.

I don’t mind audit. However, I’d prefer it not to be at a B4, as I am looking for some semblance of a work life balance.

DM me if you have something above, thanks.

Additional Posts in Tech Recruiting

I’ve recently left my job (unhappy with it) and am applying for new work. I have a few irons in the fire at the moment. I’m curious about a trend I am seeing: I like to think I’ve well documented my abilities and functions in my CV, as well as my portfolio. I’ve noticed that for some of these jobs that I can check every single box in the job description, I won’t even get an interview. I’m wondering if many of these jobs are posted for internal hires, but some stay open for weeks. What gives?
