Hi, 1L here — wondering if anyone can offer tips. I am at a top TX school, ranked top 25% of my class after last semester. I have had 3 interviews (1 screener, 2 callbacks) for a summer associate position and haven’t gotten an offer yet. Is it just a really competitive market for summer associate 1L or is it likely I need to improve my interviewing skills? One firm invited me to an invite only event (like 15 law students) weeks after the interview, but still no offer?

What does everyone think of LinkedIn Premium (the $30/mo pack)? Is it worth it for a job seeker with 1-2 years of professional experience?

I’m a non-TX immigration attorney mentoring a UT student who went to my undergrad. He’s done incredibly well in OCI and pre-OCI. Thus far, he’s landed interviews with (all in Houston): Baker Botts, Sidley Austin, Kirkland, Winston Strawn, Reed Smith, Norton Rose, and Locke Lord. Also Perkins Coie in Dallas. He’s leaning transactional, but also open to litigation. Any insights/advice on these firms in the TX market? Any to avoid?
