I have an experience of 4years and 6 months from a well known e-commerce company where my role is Contact center management and vendor management also reason for leaving the industry is no growth and no proper pay. Has anyone made the transition from law to public accounting or tax in industry? Are you happier? I’ve been thinking about making such a move since there seems to be more remote opportunities in accounting. Advice or talk me off the ledge?

How difficult is it to lateral to other areas of tax without prior experience in the area? (Ex: Income tax planning to estate planning, corporate tax to exec comp, or estate planning to controversy work, etc.) Assuming you have an LLM or a couple years of experience in your first tax area.

Considering a jump from Chicago to New York. I truly love living in Chicago and how far this salary gets me but I definitely want to try to make it in New York.
