I would just keep trying to jump straight to tech. Just not faang. Work at a non faang big tech company (I.e. Salesforce, Adobe, Dropbox, Square, Zoom etc). Then after a couple years try to go into Faang.
Chief
A bank product mgr is not equivalent to a faang product mgr.
Get into the company on a tech role, establish your reputation and then try to move over as a prod mgr a few years later
I’m in the same position. 3 YOE as a Product Manager at a Bank and looking to move to a FAANG. My applications have been rejected (3 of them for FB and Google) but I recently spoke with a manger from Facebook who is hiring and they said I’m a strong applicant and I’ll be referred to a specific team that does exactly what I do and want to do.
I feel like the trick is to try and bypass recruiters and HR, but that takes a lot of time. What can I do in my CV to show I’m still a strong PM even with a bank background at HR screening? Or do I keep trying to bypass?
Thanks!
