Hi all, looking for some advice. I moved to a new country (EU) in oct 2022 for a job and got laid off in feb 2023. It took me 5 months to find a new PM gig, and I’m a little bit into this new job and it looks like it’s shaping up to be a really bad fit. I want to keep looking for new jobs while I stick this one out but am concerned about having such short stints on my cv back to back. Does anyone have advice for me? I feel super lost and a little dejected. Any help is super appreciated!!

Y’all it’s only 9 am and I’m already having one of those days where I can’t do anything right. I fucked up a filing and now can’t focus enough on my tasks at hand so continue to make mistakes. Been with Deloitte for about a year as a consultant and currently interviewing for a Business Integrity role at Meta. From what I understand, the business integrity role is an internal consulting role for them. I’d like to not have billable hours anymore and more of a WLB but not sure if there any key differences between the two besides that. There is a pay increase but not really concerned about that. Any thoughts on this transition if I am offered?

Interested in the PM field, but I don't know enough/anything yet. What exactly is product management anyway, in a nutshell?

I am a BA who is currently interviewing for an Associate PM role . I am on the second round of interviews but not sure what I should prepare . Would appreciate any advice . Also I came across a platform named “Exponent” that has a PM interview course , has anyone used it before ?

I recently interviewed at a fast growing pre-IPO company for a Strategic PM role and I was sold that the comp should be around $180-200k plus RSU which should be about $300k annualized TC if all goes well. I have 14 years YOE in tech, but this would be my first intro to PM roles. How much signing bonus is reasonable to ask for if I am giving up on equity and quarterly commission pay to leave my current company?

I’ve been working as a RPA developer for 4 years. I joined a program that trained me in this role as a opportunity to start a career when my initial plan fell through. I’ve don’t pretty good so far…given multiple roles, pay increases etc. Honestly I don’t enjoy my job anymore and would like to make a change. Thank you for creating this bowl! I’m very new to the PM role as I’m trying to transition from management consulting. Just finished all rounds of interviews at Google yesterday for a PM role and not feeling very confident. Hopefully I hear something back in a week or so.

Does anyone follow any good PM creators online or have recommendations for blogs or anything? Just looking for more of the day-to-day life of a PM type of thing or tips and tricks for new PMs, stuff like that. LMK.

Let's do a Goal Setting Thread! 🏆 What's one goal you want to accomplish this week or month, or one goal you've already accomplished? Doesn't matter if they're big or small, taking time to celebrate the wins is crucial to being a good PM in my opinion. Let's hear em! Dropping mine in the comments.

Facebook (Meta) Product Management (IC5) or Google Cloud Marketing S&O/ Annual Planning (L6) role with 20% time as a PM if I want to eventually be working on Product Strategy for consumer tech?

I have been in Product Management even before the term Product Management was so prevalent. I have initiated ideas for new products to align with company strategy and goals, designed and managed the development of the products, and enabled delivery of product to the market. Since most of these are B2B products, delivery would include a phased-production rollout to those customers, based on their roles, locations etc. I have developed both software and data products in the healthcare and social

How do you get into Product? I want to be a product analyst but I can’t find anyone that’s looking for an entry level PA. I have 1.5 YOE as a strategic planner and 5 months as a BA, even have a CSM.

I know the framework, but every place seems to want you to have the experience but don’t want it to be on their dime. Are there better companies or industries to get started?

Digital Consultant to Tech Company (e.g. FAANG PM, Palantir Deployment, Databricks Solution Architect). What would you use to determine your total comp package?

At the moment, I just take the average TC i'd expect over the next 3 years at my consulting firm (EM levels)

So I recently interviewed for an associate PM role with my current company. I’ve been a store manager with them for 11 years. During the interviews, I felt like things were growing great and the feedback I got at the end was great. You’d think given my time knowing the product/ company for so long, that I’d be a great fit but I got rejected and haven’t gotten feedback probably will get ghosted. Should I shoot my shot and advocate for myself with the hiring manager either way?

Facebook PM AMA

Thought it might be interesting doing a AMA here.

A bit about me:
Been at FB for 5 yrs. Currently a L6 PM, managing couple other PMs and leading a product group of 50+ people.

Have previously worked in startups, VC, and was in MBB prior to that.
Early 30s Male

Trying to be helpful, so let's keep it fun and civil :)

Hi all! I have a data science/financial modelling background and looking to get into PM. Trying to map out a path as I don’t have much product experience. Would it make sense to transition into a product analytics data science role first and then to PM?
