There is no reason to go back to Consulting based on the information you’ve provided.
Completely agree...
OP any other reasons you want to make the jump? Try making a longer pros/cons checklist and think through it. Even if there are some checkboxes down the pro column, really consider if they are things you would be able to even control.
Also I made these switch from Industry to MBB more because I had to, but hours and travel are pretty brutal for the most part. I would say I have been able to learn new industries very rapidly, but along with the grunt work of working your way up the ladder.
Reason to go back to consulting at (Mck + BCG). Both of us have had invites for interviews.
The only way either of us could justify it is either for a change of industry potentially or to go all the way to make Partner but that would be the monetary incentive and even then you would have to stick around a bit for it to be +NPV considering we'd start at the lower ranks ...anyone else have any other thoughts on benefits we could be missing out?
How old are you and what are your priorities?
This is an important question. Also, what levels are you now?
Are you sure? The other point we came up with would be for international opportunities as they seem to be more easier to come across within a large corporate consulting group vs a specialized BU within a MNC.
Very sure.
Hey op, do you mind if I ask how hard it was/how you the opportunity to interview at mbb from industry? I recently exited b4 for industry and not sure I like it but not sure if it’s possible to go back to a better firm
Sure.. though with some minor caveats. For both of us we interviewed with MBB straight out of undergrad and didn't get offers but got along well with the partners/etc; enough in our final rounds that we kept in touch.
In other words we kept the relationships alive throughout this time which helped alot. I'm not sure how we would do in regards to interviewing otherwise.
Don’t do it
