Additional Posts in Career Advice for Students
Hey there!
I am a Masters Student majoring in Machine Learning. I am in my first semester and I am kind leaning to explore Data Science as well. Could any Professional Data Scientists help me out on getting started? What skills do I focus on? What kind of projects should I have on my portfolio?
I have tried looking this info out in the internet but its all overwhelming. Hoping to get some honest guidance here!
Deloitte audit Vs. Grant Thornton Tax. I have an offer from Grant Thornton and From Deloitte as an Intern this summer. Deloitte is the bigger name and pays a bit better but Grant Thronton has way nicer people and known to have a way better cultre and work environment. What should I do? Where should I go?Deloitte Grant Thornton

Idk, Big4 seem to exit fine based on what I’ve seen, and I’m not even tech/strategy aligned. The MBB as I know anecdotally founded startups or are still there—so I assume they’re exits are good, but not necessarily better.
My former staff:
-F500 managers in related biz ops practice areas
-t14 MBAs
-strategy managers at mature, preIPO startups
-startup founders
-PE MM ops improvement manager
My former colleagues above manager have exited to F500 as…
-director of corp applications and strategy
-directors of global analytics (or insert specific BU)
-directors of biz ops (or more specifically insert BU)
-enterprise tech sales & GTM strategy (major cloud provider)
*some of these roles are SM/VP, etc
lol how do it stop getting notifications to dumb posts like this
Because google and the search function of fishbowl has the answer this person is looking for 💀.
Ivy League education and still don’t know how to google. We are doomed.
This is sometimes a better way than google to get answers. Real life examples tailored to the question. Y’all whack
Umm. If you aren’t at least at a tier 2 you aren’t really a management consultant from a profession perspective you’re more akin to a specialist in whatever your vertical is. I do M&A consulting at big 4 and would never refer to myself as a management consultant since that implies the traditional MBB or tier 2 strategy offering. Basically, stop worrying about it
Oh I agree with you. We are not true MCs. And other fishes, 99% of you knew at the moment of joining pwc “MC” practice, the work is nothing like true MBB strategy work. Of course excluding S& fishes.
guys i thinj OP is just new to consulting and is tryna learn abt it. why is everyone being so snarky
Thanks to those who gave me an actual answer! Didn't know fishbowl was this snarky yikes
Welcome to the party
Consulting is such a broad topic and I am sure if linkedin do a summary the exit from big4 “consulting” is gonna be across all industry and every F500 companies
We actually strap a rocket to our backs and fly to space
You’re asking where nearly half a million people might exit to lol. As a consulting exercise try narrowing down the problem you’re solving for
Usually fortune 500. The clients they work with are common places where consultants exit

This is the correct answer

Change Managers, Project Managers, Internal Consultants are all common roles that I see.
Just started looking into consulting and am seeing lots of mbb/big 4 content. Clearly mbb is getting the best exit opps so I'm just curious to see what big 4 exits are like.
You have to sell your soul to work at MBB. Just look at all the dipshittery associated with McK. You can exit to good jobs in industry from big 4. And if you stay, work hard, and make partner, you can probably retire early enough to actually enjoy it. 😂
Tons of places, but mostly in house to big brands. I've seen people transition to product managers, business ops, strategy,
Agreed that the strategy arms get better opportunities but that doesn’t mean our traditional MC groups don’t get good looks as well.
I’m at KPMG MC not strat, aligned to an industry vertical and have been getting interviews for google product strategy, BB corp strat, product management roles where teams are made up of MBB/T2. Make the most out of every opportunity!
