McKinsey & Company I am joining the McKinsey & Company Boston office in late July and searching for housing in the meantime. If I could get some insight on the ratio of days in the office vs work from home that would be super helpful!
If I need to come into the office regularly I will try to find a place close by.
How is performance measured at MBB?
Bain & Company Is it truly easier to get in a smaller MBB office?
Have heard a lot for different opinions on these. The logic is that it’s easier because there is a lot of supply in cities like NY, Chicago and SF, but the counter argument is that the offices with less supply are also way smaller and have a lot less demand.

McKinsey & Company Bain & Company Boston Consulting Group
McKinsey & Company Hey folks!
Was wondering what sort of life sciences projects does usually the Boston Consulting Group and McKinsey & Company take on?
Commercial, access and pricing, M&A, transformation, implementation? (all of them perhaps?)
Basically, what would someone with an LS background be mainly working on in these firms on a day-to-day basis?
Thanks!

Some great advice from the Bainies above, congrats on the opportunity OP! Don’t worry about offer rates - ask for help early and often from the team, practice presentation skills, and try to have fun with the case content.
Really leverage the people on your case and practice presentation skills
Biggest factor of success for ADvantage is ADs who realize this is a team sport and show they can engage in collaborative problem solving, and comfortable with brainstorming / advancing hypotheses upfront subject to revision.
Vs those who see it as a test and disappear for 2 days, feel like everything has to be 'perfect' before they can get input, gets lost into the weeds and don't ask for help. So basically behave the exact opposite as in a typical graduate lab, and showing you are wired to thrive in this environment and can make that switch.
I don't think you need to invest in additional hard skill prep. Good to probably stay sharp on the business concept 101 you learned for case prep.
Congrats! Bain cares a lot about fit so definitely do your best to incorporate yourself into the team and get along with everyone. First day is training so you probably don’t need much additional prep.
Also, hope for the best but be okay with the worse. Don’t be too bummed out if you don’t get an offer at the end. Last year’s advantage offer rates were pretty low (20-30ish%) and fairly consistent across US offices given the economic situation. Definitely keep prepping and interviewing for MB and other firms!
Sauce: ADC SO that went to Advantage last year
It's really weird, Ik one office would conduct another case interview. But to the best of my knowledge, in previous years my target office didn't have anymore case interviews. The tentative schedule email for my office just mentioned presentation at the end of the program, no more interviews (hopefully)!
Optimistically, this year the rates should be much higher given last year was brutal and this year seems to be back to pre pandemic norms
I feel ya, got dinged for an extremely arbitrary reason as well. I accidentally let it be known I’m interested in life sciences and healthcare. My target office has none of those target areas (targeting due to SO being there) so pretty sure that screwed me. Feedback was that I did very well on both cases also, during my interviews my second interviewer (not the one that rejected me) also told me unprompted that I did very well on the case and that I don’t need to worry about the outcome at all… felt I did similar levels on both cases so fairly certain rejection was not case related
Fortunately I’m attending Insight and interviewing for BCG bridge first round. Just hoping I get something out of the two. Best of luck to you also!
