Hi all, recently a recruiter from Amazon reached out for an SDE 2(2+ years of exp. required) role and I'm a recent CS grad. I gave the OA (which was extremely difficult w/ 99% cut-off) and other tasks related to the OA. A few hours back, I got a call from the recruiter that I had cleared the assessment and tasks and said that they are looking for 2+ years of exp. I said I'm open to the SDE1 role and said she'll ask her colleagues. Idk what to expect now 😥 Amazon Amazon India

Everyone gets pushback. I confronted it head on and went directly to the partner causing the hesitation and got him on my side. When HR stalled, I proactively reached out to ask what I could help with. Took a while but what have you got to loose? The firm wants to keep you but gotta understand your current group doesn’t want to lose a high performer. That said, you should be able to pursue a career you like within such a large firm.
^Agree with what KPMG 1 says, as most people experience some type of pushback. Audit doesn't want to lose a top performer. However, if you aren't a strong performer, TAS won't want to hire you. Since you are a big 4 audit senior, you should be able to make this transition. NYC is, at least in the US, probably the largest TAS market. Firms are probably slowing hiring at this point; however, you should have plenty to choose from once hiring resumes after Coronavirus. In my opinion, the fundamentals of the economy haven't changed and most TAS practices have been aggressively trying to expand over the past couple of years.
