Hi everyone. My question is, what is the most common/effective career route to becoming a category manager in industry?

Background:
I’m ~3 years post undergrad in supply chain consulting (b4) and have bounced around b/t projects in procurement (mostly sourcing), planning, and a couple other random projects. I know I don’t have the experience to move into a category role directly from consulting. Should I look for roles in sourcing, buying, general supply chain manager? Thanks

My current ctc is 13.8 lpa.Before scheduling L1 interview, HR told me for this role the maximum pay is between 13lpa and 5lpa.. I said ok.. and i have celared the interview as well. I currently do planning system implementation at SC level. Quite technical stuff and less PMO. What are my future career possibilities from here onwards? Can I keep progressing in the standard ladder and keep doing implementations, or is it automatically going to end up becoming more are more sales oriented and less actual implementation work? Especially interested in the SM level and above. I’d prefer staying at Big 4 and avoid the supplier side.
