Just saying it because it's true, do what works for your team and you.
If you do want to look into a methodology, I would look at Atomic design, as it tends to work well with figma and design systems if you want to be meticulous and have everything updated when anything is changed.
Would also recommend a good vetting process for what gets added to the design system vs a snowflake that only exists within a one off design scenario.
