I am considering switching careers from architecture to UX design or Product Management, and am unsure about which route I want to take. Is it common for someone to switch between UX and PMing within the same company? If so is it common in both directions? Wondering if I can have a second chance at adjusting my job again later if I change my mind down the road

Hi everyone! I’ve been working as a product manager in an internal consulting department at Kaiser Permanente a on software product that maps and automates clinical workflows. Although my title is a consultant, my role entails the usual responsibilities of a PM (prioritizing builds and features, identifying business requirements, mapping user journeys and stakeholder management). Can anyone suggest the better option between Finastra and HSBC Technologies? Both are for BA payments. From the perspective of a BA which will be the better option to grow and learn?

Although I know you don’t need to pass the patent bar to “technically” do patent litigation, would it be a dead end move to pursue patent litigation without a technical degree / admission to the patent bar? In other words, would most BL firms refuse to staff associates on patent litigation cases if they don’t have a technical degree?

Looking for some advice on a career change. I work in a technical role and have well-developed soft skills. I want to transition to UX (w/ focus on accessibility). There are a lot of UX educational programs out there, some very new, e.g. Dribbble, and costs are all over the place - General Assembly is $15k (and full-time), CareerFoundry almost $8k, and then many others at a fraction of the price. Reviews also vary wildly. Are these more expensive programs worth the huge increase in cost?

Hi everyone, I am getting ready for a job interview, and need to create a media plan. I was hoping someone can help me with the next task: basically, I need to create inventory recommendation based on past performance. What I am very confused about is that they gave me Booked Impressions (=4M), but in the task it says I should assume there is unlimited inventory. Am I supposed to use this 4M only to calculate spend, ROAS, etc., but can actually have unlimited allocated impressions? Thank you!

I joined a project that had already started and the team already settled on creating a user journey map, even though none of them are designers or in ux. I thought that was my job as the ux designer to figure out the best way to solve a need. But I’m getting handed projects where the PO, and sometimes the senior designer has laid out exactly what should happen (components used, flow, etc) to design a feature. It’s really frustrating because I don’t know if I’m supposed to be speaking up on what I think or just do the UI work I’m asked to.

After a long interview process, I had to decline an offer from Amazon. I was really excited, but they wanted to start me as an L4. I already have offers on the table $15,000 more then the possible top compensation an L4 can get.
