Looking at leaving audit, for a financial analyst and small Corp Dec roles for small corps.

A few of the roles ask for financial modelling, but I'm unsure if it is DCF (per my old finance classes) and need IB level type work or just quick and easy excel modelling for sensitivity/variances from different parameter changes.

Seems like a vague term.

Would love to get some insight on people who perform financial modelling in their work and had it in their position description.

For the CFE, did you do anything in addition to the ACFE prep course? The course is just practice questions, so I’m wondering where I can actually learn the information first before that.

My wife is a Chartered Accountant with 7+ years of experience as credit manager, underwriting loans with some leading banks in India. She just got her EAD and is looking for jobs, open to switch profiles as well. Do you think she would fit in for any role here in Seattle, WA? She has been a star performer and promoted twice in the last 3 years. One problem is companies look for US experience which she does not have, we just moved here early this year.

I bought a house in the suburbs of Chicago at the top of the market. I ended up moving out of state in 2017 and short-selling. I am now interviewing for a VP Accounting role with the mortgage company that got shafted by the short sale. If I get the job offer, can they/will they see this on my credit report? So after two weeks of waiting (and giving up on the idea of getting the job really), the recruiter got back to me.

They said due to month-end and quarter-end close they were busy and couldn’t get back to me as quickly for a “good update”.

The recruiter said the CFO enjoyed our call, she, the CFO, will call me next week directly to “discuss some final things”.

Not sure if Im hired or not, but are there any questions about the job, comp (cont.)

What should I be considering when evaluating a business analyst role? Are these more accounting than finance, FP&A, or does it change by company?

I am a young professional... But every job interview I’ve had so far pretty much just wants to know what kind of person I am. They are as interested in my leadership/communication as much as they are in me talking about my experience.

Is this how it will always be? Or is this predominantly because I am in lower positions at this point in my career?
