Amazon. Is it okay to reach out to the hiring manager for checking the status update if recruiter isn't updating (got an out of office email from recuiter's email ID). Had completed the Loop rounds / Screening rounds / Written assessment and the bar raiser round 11 days back at Amazon. (L6 Program Manager role) Lot of folks suggesting here that it takes 5 business days to get back. Just found out my mother is dying from cancer and does not have much longer to live. I took a week of PTO to help my dad. I can’t afford to take leave and my family thinks I should continue working. Has anyone gone through the same? How did it impact you? I told my team and they’re supportive, but I’m at a loss about how this will impact me professionally.

I had an interview with a firm today and they asked about my billable hours and whether I met them. I said no, but that other associates in my very small group have the same issue, and that we all have around the same number of hours. As the hiring firm, would you be satisfied or concerned with this answer?
