Dear new freelancers: stop lowballing your rate by charging like you were a fulltimer. You have to pay for your own healthcare, equipment, holidays, sick days AND downtime between gigs.
Interesting statistic I just saw: Today 50% of women aged 30 do not currently have children. This is the highest it’s been since they began keeping records of it. 🤯
Microsoft employees- can anyone tell me if you have to work at the company at least a year in order to benefit from the maternity leave policy? Thank you!!!
I am taking another sick day this coming Monday. It's necessary for both my physical and mental health, which are severely compromised due to the stress of this insane school year (and the last one, and the spring before that -- I think this is cumulative with COVID, the political situation, etc.). I have never taken this many sick days during ANY school year in my 20+ years of teaching. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is anyone else having anxiety about taking so many days off?
I elect to take health insurance from my company for a family plan. It is an HSA and my monthly premiums are $650 not including HSA contributions. Is this high?

What are most company standards for vacation time and PTO for a group of 25 and lower of employees? We do 5 days after 1 yr, 10 day after 2yrs 15days after 5yrs and 20days after 10yrs. PTO is accrual monthly after your first 90 days. 32-40hr average is full time, 25-32hr average is part-time.
I’m working with a senior on a case and it’s the second time I prepare a draft email to the client laying out the options and the risks associated with each possible path and he straight up deleted the risks of the option he wants our client and the benefits of the option he does not think the client should follow. Personally, I believe the client is the one to decide what path to follow (...)
What should go in a job offer letter? My job was just verbal but we’re hiring and the solo managing attorney just repeats that he trusts me. I’m thinking start date, salary, benefits (stipend for health ins and 401(K) match), billable hour requirement, and vacation policy. Missing anything? Also, as background, this is a JD graduate that postponed the July bar exam to Feb. Eligible as a Certified Limited Practice Graduate under supervision. So there’ll be a salary bump upon full licensure.
I'm trying to compare the perks and benefits of leadership positions at the four big CRE firms; JLL, Cushman Wakefield, CBRE and Colliers. Can anyone comment on any perks or benefits they get at the companies I don't work for? I'm thinking company swag, travel to conferences or to meet with clients, leadership retreats, nice offices, vehicles, clothing allowances etc. Curious if there are any benefits to being a leader at any of the other firms. Thanks
Husband just started a new job that came with a nice pay bump and lots of exciting opportunities. Over a year ago, I switched to government after I returned from maternity leave, so my job has got very dull with lots of perks: no stress, no deadline, good benefits with making decent money ($110k+). I’m not sure if it’s my insecurity or a legitimate feeling. I feel like the gap between us is growing. He is always on his phone, don’t have time to play our baby. He thinks I’m nagging him. Cont…
