I’m a junior litigation lawyer based in Windsor looking to lateral to corporate big law. I have been doing commercial litigation, tax litigation, and tax planning. I’ve done corporate reorganization, corporate structuring, rollovers so corporate would not be completely new to me. I did a solicitor rotation during articling and was involved with several m&a deals. Has anyone managed to make the jump from litigation in Windsor to Toronto big law corporate? Why is it that when ever I look at “entry level” jobs in IT they always want 2-4 years of experience. It’s entry level that means maybe some certifications if they didn’t major in the field or a degree in the field. Not 2-4 years already working in the field. Can someone please explain this to me?

Just became an ACD. Im in a limbo. Half of the time im being treated as a Super Senior AD and the other half im being treated as a Almost CD. Then when im scoped over work that my CD and I oversee, some people are asking me how does my role differ from the CD’s, as they tend to look at me as an unnecessary layer for approvals. In a way, i do the job so well that i get asked to do more AD projs and guide more projs — but then: wtf does my CD do? They mostly just 👍🏻what i direct n approve

I'm a fresher and I recently joined one of the big4 as a senior analyst.
I am given sap as my competency, but honestly I'm not finding it interesting. I was hoping to shift to data analytics(python, sql, etl, powerbi, advanced excel... Working with these techs).
I have knowledge in python and sql. I also have some development skills, reactjs and stuff(not relevant to data analytics).
Should I increase my skill set before starting to apply to other firms?
