If it was me I would take it for the possibility of a permanent position and if you aren’t hired after the temp time frame you should be able to get unemployment reinstated

I don't get the question. What exactly are you having doubts about? Especially considering that refusing it could cost you your unemployment benefits.
Taking it would preserve your benefits, give you a little more time to keep searching, and it could even lead to something permanent.
You don't really like the job? It's only a 4–6 week contract. That's practically nothing—it's not as if you'd have to grit your teeth and endure it for the next few years.
That is exactly what I was thinking. Refusing the work could lead to me putting my existing benefits in jeopardy. I think I have to go for it.
