Hi Guys! I'm someone with absolutely no data experience.

An employer asked if I have experience working with sql/phyton (work involved reading/using data).

Can anyone help to explain these skills?

SQL - your employer asking about SQL means your position will be pulling data from databases at some point. SQL is a query language used for exactly this, it's a way of telling databases the specific subset of data you want to extract.

Python - Python has a wide range of uses, but i would guess your employer may expect you to transform and explore the dataset that you pulled from the database. There is a library called pandas which is great for this.

If you have any more info on the intended tasks it would help too, but there's a basic explanation.

like

VG1 described it well. Timelines you'll want to be aware of...

In SQL, you can get to a point where you're useful within a day, not super slow within a few weeks, and reasonably efficient in under a month. For
Python, a week, a month, and about a year, respectively.

I recommend starting on DataCamp to get basics. Then refer to cheatsheets and search results featuring stack exchange.

If you’re asking rn then it’s a no. You can learn these skills rather quickly though’! Spend a few months then target these.

Here is my idea for a startup! I collect all the data from career transitions and use Data Analytics to predict the most likely career transitions. I could start with consulting. What do you guys think about this? I would be able to predict based on your firm(mbb, big4), your experience, which role you are likely to move (Faang pm, strategy manager, move to mbb). I have all the data to do this, but wanted your thoughts. Would the output of this be relevant to you?

Alright auto fishes, I’m in the market for a entry level luxury car. Open to used or a lease. I don’t plan to use it as a daily driver, live in an HCOL. Only restriction is that I’d like to keep my monthly costs at no more than $600-$700/month (including insurance, financing / fees, etc; have a parking spot already). Doesn’t have to be a European badge. Thoughts?

I was thinking of getting an oura ring. Does anyone have one? Any thoughts as to which is better?

- No online input data upload (so local editing)
- The produced output file must be local and easily exportable and readable
-timeline must be interactive (filter/click/zoom in/out/view detals etc.)
