Program Manager L3 salary in HCOL?
I got a remote L6 SWE offer at Google but the RSUs are too low for that level ($625k over 4 years), could not negotiate it higher. I’ve accepted the offer but trying to be hopeful that I could make it more equitable in the future if I perform well. Customer Engineer (CE) roles and Post Sales (aka the consulting group that actually builds the solutions) are two entirely different roles.
CE roles are sales roes...that means sales pressure, commissions and really long hours. A lot of the work is building POCs, answering technical questions from clients and supporting your sales director. These people don't go super deep and the work gets repetitive.
Post Sales / Consultants spend more time with clients because they are building out the real solutions. Their hours are normal (30-40 hours a week), get a lot of training opportunities and get to go deep into the tech.

There is a lot of movement towards PSO (post-sales) at the moment. There is a lot more interesting things going on over there, better work life, better training...a more real google experience.
I saw this useful thread here in the bowl.
Could you please share some insights on- What does a Technical Solution Engineering role in Google Cloud look like? Is it a complete support and can it provide learning opportunities to grow eventually as CE?

Support for clients that call and ask for help.
You learn a lot and should be able to move to a CE or PSO role at the 2 year mark fairly easily
