Hi!

I’m currently working in a “boys club” - I have a degree, 15 yrs exp. and deliver major impact to the brand I work for (at the co. 9 yrs).

Unfortunately male coworkers somehow take the credit, no voice, etc etc (I used to correct them, advocate for myself but it’s tiring)

Would love to hear any advice on the above while I’m still in this role but more importantly any companies you know that are female-friendly, resources/ top co lists for great cultures for women, any tips! Thank you!

I’m sorry you’re experiencing this. I would honestly continue to advocate for yourself but there’s no sense in escalating things to managers unless you feel like the people will be in your corner (ie this could back fire on you). Good luck in finding a new role - I don’t work in the industry so I can’t say too much about companies I would recommend but research them and trust your gut!! If anyone gives you weird feeling, it’s probably a bad fit!!

Thank you!

To me, it was helpful to change the conversation (in my head) to thinking about how to create visibility for myself rather than advocating for myself. Get creative like the idea of putting your name on everything.

like

I put my name on everything I create from the jump. Cover page on documents, slides, etc. and I put my name first. 🤷🏻‍♀️ if someone wants to change it, I’ll have a record of who does that and when.

But always advocate for yourself- especially with the bigger, strategic wins. It is exhausting and that is what they are banking on- wearing you down.

I honestly don’t know of a solid female friendly company. There are pockets in every company but on the whole? They are hard to find.

I love that idea! Thank you 🩷

Or maybe i'm just an overthinking copywriter who's reading into it too much.
