My $.02 - I would do a masters like GA Tech rather than a boot camp.
OP: that helps a lot.
Can you explain where you think you’re lacking and how you hope this course/masters will help you?
GT > Bootcamp
Might be a hot take but the bootcamp could be worth it depending on your background.
Around 5-6 years ago I was fresh out of an undergrad in pure math with nothing to offer. I signed up for a ~ 6 month bootcamp to learn python, sql, Javascript, and few other topics.
Everything was very surface level - nothing in depth but got a taste of different roles out there and how to learn to self study coding and work on my own projects. About 3 months later, got my first entry level gig as a data analyst working in excel and around 9 months later, my first job hop to a data scientist (primarily python, sql based) role at a startup. Looking back, I think it was the portfolio I built that got my profile noticed and it was the projects I worked on in the bootcamp that made up the portfolio.
With that said, I don't think the bootcamp would have really helped in securing an offer if I was say a music major, but it was a huge help as someone with a math background who didn't know the first thing about getting started with writing code.
If you decide to do it, go in with an open mind and remember that you'll only get out of it what you're willing to put in.
I have a decent amount of stats and econ, so when i did a certificate at MIT the hardest part was just learning python after years of Stata and R (lol). But my graduate degree is in policy, so i have been trying to do how well i can retain the learnings as well as dollar cost since i already have one graduate degree. (Although i do see GT is cheaper than most bootcamps.)
Don’t do it. All bootcamps do is offer basic junior level skill sets in full stack. You’re better off getting into a competency based degree program that works of project based assignments intended to grow your skill set.
