Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

You can be an extra douche and people somewhat expect it.
I pity my SM friends (senior here). It really is the shittiest spot in the firm. They open up to me all the time about it and how ridiculous all the partner BS is and how it's essentially just a ticking time bomb till a partner hates you and then tries to F up your career.
$25 bucks more for dinner lol, but it actually is a noticeable difference. Higher level of business support services, e.g. Do your expenses for you, book travel, reserve office space, clean up and print/bind decks. Also have found expense auditors more lenient
You see and hear all the Partner workings. No filter.
You can work 15hrs a day on your own accord without some assh$&@ SM pushing you
SM is validating. You made it to the executive level. You do get to hear partners talk unfiltered. That is the bonus. Pay, depends. My pay compared to other SMs and Directors sucks. I do make my own schedule which I like but the politics are daunting. You can also still be forced to go on projects and making numbers is huge which can suck. And One wrong Partner or another SM who has the "right" ties that dislikes you can dead your career.
Depends on what you value. Pay raise is minimal. Freedom to do whatever the hell you want is awesome. Making numbers is now tough though - unless you have really good PPED connections, you are screwed. Suddenly no one wants you on their projects (rate too high), pursuits (you may take someone's sales credit), or accounts (god forbid you may steal important client relationships and then pocket sales). Competition gets cut throat. No more little bravo cards you used to get left and right. High year end ratings are now tough to get if you don't have a powerful partner behind you. Around E4 partners start to seriously question your promotion potential, so from then on you are in an "up or out" state. So yeah....
^ I already started looking for a new job... just wanted the title!
Any positive aspects to it outside of the $s at all?
Carrot stick of Partner. SM role is the shittiest, but doesn't give you the right to be a POS to others.
Don't "feel" like doing something ? Delegate.
There are no perks to being SM that outweigh the crappiness of this level. SM is a means to an end. If you have no plans to be PPED, then leave.
It's an interesting dichotomy- some the best SMs in my practice were hired as SMs. Some of the worst ahole SMs were promoted from within. Says a lot about the partners ... pretty much demotivated me from even trying to get promoted.
