I have a manager that does not seem to understand mental illnesses, disorders, etc. He thinks I am making excuses rather than trying to explain things (I have diagnosed ADHD, anxiety, and depression) and I’m trying to take ownership for issues but also help him understand what I am describing better as well. I was recently laid off. I am an Underwriter in the mortgage industry. There are thousands of us that are unemployed right now. I am hearing that other industries won’t entertain former mortgage underwriters. I am not certain why. Insurance companies have posted jobs with the statement “no mortgage underwriters”. I’ve been so many places where everyone throws around comms planning, connections planning, and channel planning (and others) interchangeably. But then some folks say there’s nuance. Is there?

I just started at a new agency and learned that the entire agency has limited to no experience with comms planning but somehow merely the mention of a comms plan evokes a visceral reaction from multiple disciplines. I have 10 years of experience in social/digital/media and I’ve never experienced a stigma like this. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice?
