I just started a new project 2 weeks ago and just found out it’s a train wreck. I am set up to fail already! No training and a lot of soft lies to client by Senior managers leading. I’m a manager, can I just ask to roll off? How does this affect my job security?
Please, deciding between two offers and really torn. 1. Principal Strategy and Business Architect, Customer Success and Support at Atlassian and 2. Would you: 1. Take an IC role with a tech giant for $200k base and $400k OTE, with earning potential not capped (top 10% performers earning $600k+) OR 2. Stick it out in consulting for possibility of making partner in 3-4 years. Currently at $200k base.
Few basic questions for buying a car in Virginia - How does the property tax work? (How much is it for a 25-35K car? Is it per driver or per car? ) - On a larger scheme of things, Is it cheaper to buy or lease a car? - If more than one person drives a car, do we need insurance for both?
What is the extent of details revealed in a background check? If I left voluntarily vs was let go - does that show up in a background check? Long leave of absence say 6 months (health or parental leave or just personal leave) - does that show up? Which specific teams I worked with or what kind of projects I worked on? Past promotion dates?
MBB manager in Life Sciences: struggling to find a good exit. VC/PE - feels like consulting toolkit not really useful, and I’m competing with analysts. Big pharma - in my country too pharmaco not hiring consultants. Startups - don’t sponsor visa. Feels stuck! Any ideas/advice?
Advice please! I'm scheduled to roll off my current (surge) project at the end of this month. The project is heavy in manual government processes, but my manager is offering to let me lead a workstream because our scope has grown so much and the client needs our help. However, there's another big, super relevant project where I'd get project experience doing analytics, but I likely wouldn't get ownership over anything. Do I extend my current project or try to roll onto the new one?
How can you be confrontational w/o coming off as a dick/bitch? Bc one of the many things I’ve learned as an account person is you gotta have some big cajones to back up your position & get stuff done.
Besides decently high pay (compared to other countries), freedom (speech, voting, "opportunities"), diversity (primarily coastal states), what are some other good things about America? Wanna be grateful, but America's deepest flaws have really been exposed this past year (racism, government inefficiencies, struggling health care systems, expensive health care, gun violence, poor grade school education systems...). Don't see these getting better anytime soon
Trying to determine if I’m off-base: 9ish yrs of exp (7 + 2 post MBA). Focus in healthcare strat and org change/transformation — when folks call I’ve been asking for $175K base but the roles have topped out at $150K base. These are director level roles in industry and health tech. Is $175K too high? I’m currently at a T2 strat firm…
I work in Technology Risk / IT Audit. How easy is it to bs my way into a role a recruiter has reached out to me for. It is more related to Data Consultancy/Management. Seems like there are transferred skills!
Someone let out a silent killer in a meeting with an executive from the client; left everyone guessing and staring at each other throughout. I need a lot of oxygen after all this methane -_-

Home base is PHL, AA has most of the non-stops but the AA “experience” is leaving a LOT to be desired. Have status with them, no where else. Options?

Any US citizens sponsor GC for senior citizen parents or relatives? Process looks straight forward. What are the approval timelines? What about health insurance premiums when they get GC? Any insights? Thanks! https://www.path2usa.com/sponsoring-green-card-for-parents
In my late 20's, but I've lived in my current city (nonUS) my whole life. I was really looking forward to moving to NYC and landed a job there earlier this year although I'm still WFH and not in the US yet. A recruiter reached out to me for a new role but it would be in my old city. I'd be pretty fine with both roles themselves. But the NYC one would pay about 140$ TC (not sure about bonus yet, this is a guess), and the non-NYC one would be maybe $25-30 more. Is the $ worth the city sacrifice?
all being a “high performer” gets you is more work. Only one online right now. And no raise to reward me. Fuck this
I’ve been doing civil defense work for well over 15 years. I am seriously thinking about switching sides. I’m tired of being valued by how much I bill instead of my results. I’m also tired of billing 10+ hours a day. And really I’m just overall miserable. Can anyone tell me what being a plaintiffs attorney is like? Do you get salary and commission? Do you really have no billable hours? How does that work?I make 180k a year, can I get at least that much as a salary doing plaintiffs work?
Is timing your pregnancy to miss busy season on maternity leave considered rude or an unspoken "dont"?
Last year, My girlfriend was making 80k while I was making 200k so I took her out to dinners and took care of the groceries etc. Basically made sure it’s an equitable relationship. She got a new job this year and is now making 210k (more than me) but still expects me to pay for all the dinners and groceries. I’ve already talked to her about this but just resulted in argument. Is there any coming back from this situation to make this equitable relationship or is break up the only option here?
Expecting promotion this December, but not too satisfied with the work and manager I am working with. Should I start looking for transfer/jobs or wait until I get the promotion and move? Any advice?
