I think they should release Normal results but show other results as “Still in Review” til provider can evaluate. People freak out at Abnormal
I like this response. But, there's still gonna be some anxieties because it's normal when it comes to waiting on a call from your doc.
I work as a scheduler for a large cardiology clinic in my retirement.
I see a HUGE amount of clerical AND clinical incompetence from both the referring office and our office.
While I agree that it causes anxiety, it might save some lives. Power to the people.

I think this is a good point. Why shouldn't patients have access and if they are paying attention and care about their health, then perhaps these calls at least get their concerns addressed. I've seen my elderly parents have labs ordered AFTER their yearly appointments. Why can't they be ordered before, so that they can be discussed at that annual appointment? Instead, it becomes more work as the provider has to call the patient, but guess what? They never get this call to explain labs that are off. It scares me that things are so busy, that these labs get pushed off until a real problem develops and then the patient has missed the opportunity to proactively stop a negative trend before it becomes a bigger one.

I think it can cause unnecessary panic and confusion for sure. I believe in transparency but I think it would be better if patients got the results after discussing with their provider.
Creates more chaos and unnecessary panic because the patient doesn't understand the reference ranges and don't know how to compare their numbers to it. Then the providers are not responding to messages left in the portal because they are stuck seeing patients all day, terrible...
I stay away from my own patient portal and I work in the medical field. You are right.
nah, I need to know what's going on with me.
