Before and after work, 100-200 hours per section
Very lazily, passed FAR and BEC with 75’s and AUD with a 76. Probabsly about a few hours a day in the morning before work I would study, for 4 weeks. Take the exam, most likely fail my first attempt. Then pass my next attempt. I didn’t focus on any sims ever. MCQs are going to be most beneficial for passing imo. Goodluck you’ll be perfectly fine
Passed all 4 in 5 months (2 test per quarter) (retook FAR)
Wasn’t working, was studying 6-7hrs a day cramming all the tests info in. (Thank god for adderall, chill I have a prescription)
Highly recommend Becker, don’t use Wiley
I was never really an academic in school, I felt the CPA tests were more of a “how well you regurgitated information” than how well you understand the material
Just bc you have a prescription doesn’t condone using it as a study aid. For those that don’t have a prescription and do it the old fashioned way - follow the study plan that works for you but push outside your comfort zone as in, make some short term sacrifices to obtain the cpa. Don’t overwork yourself but think about what’s more important- watching Netflix or passing cpa. Netflix will still be there ha. I followed becker and got exam day ready for 3/4 so far that I have taken and passed. I take far tomorrow and used same method, so we will see what the results are in 2 weeks
Becker.
Before and after work and on weekends, 15-20 hours per week.
8 weeks FAR, 5 weeks REG (which I got a 74, which is what you get taking exams in busy season), 3 weeks AUD, 2 weeks BEC, took a little break and then 3 weeks REG attempt 2. Got above 90 on most of them so probably ‘studied too long’.
Probably 300-350 hours total, including the retest. Plus 8-12 hours test time and 20 hours commute time to get to the tests.
December through July.
You got this!!!
Becker MCQs (did hundreds a day for like a week leading up to the exam). Probably took like 4 months total, but I also took 3 of them while in school and only 1 while working. I over-studied in hindsight but that's fine with me.
About 1.5-2 months per section, 2 hours a day with maybe one day a week of 30 mins of studying. Passed all for first try
Becker with no flash cards or supplements.
Pro
4 months while working full time
I studied during off busy season for a year total, failed FAR once. Weekly day:1-2 hours in early morning before work. Weekends: 8-10 hours based on how fast I get through the planned material.
Note/tips: 1. Find a most productive time to study. My brain works best in the morning. 2. Make a plan and stick to it. 3. Celebrate small wins.
Good luck! You shall pass all of the exams before you know it! Rooting for you!
May not apply to you if you’re already working at BDO as a staff/senior. But I graduated in May 2016 and started with PwC October of that year. I treated studying like an 8 hour a day job until starting work in October. Luckily my wife was cool paying all the bills for those few months lol.
22 months. Didn’t pass the first one for a bit. Probably about 400+ hours total but I’m a slow learner so I knew I needed the repetition.
Gleim books. Studied 2-3 hours per day for about 4 months. Passed 3 parts the 1st sitting in November & the last part at the following May sitting. If Gleim is still around & offers their CPA review books, I highly recommend them.
8 months while working full time.
I studied for about 13 months total about 3 hrs after work during the weekdays 3 times a week and 12 total on weekends, passed all 4 sections on my first try, studies with Becker but practiced MCs on Gleim
