How do I actually make the next step up in my career? With my current company, they’ve made it quite clear that they don’t have any space for me to progress there, which I understand and it’s fine. However, how do I advertise myself to recruiters to make them believe that I’m capable of a more senior role than I currently have?

Just tell them about responsibilities you've taken on beyond your current role. You could also make a lateral move that has more room for advancement.

Yeah that’s a good idea actually, thanks for the advice

Ask more questions of your current company and management to see why they don’t have space for you. Feedback is really important and people will go to bat for you if they feel like you want it and are willing to improve

Well I know why I wouldn’t be able to make the step up at my current place of work anyway. There just isn’t the capacity for it at the moment, nothing to do with capability etc luckily

I just want a change of scenery because my current firm is bleeding good associates / not giving great training imo / and just seems small. Would lateralling this early feasible? Would it look bad on my resume?

I have a question, I got a contract role through a recruiter. Initially the recruiter offered the hourly pay rate which was the minimum in my range. Now I got an offer from the company. Now without me asking her she increased the hourly wage to the maximum range I asked. Which makes me doubt if the company increased it or she knew the rate all along but gave me the lower rate ?

Out of curiosity. How would a company view a potential candidate who has a period of unemployment to study for the CPA. I am considering to start studying for the exam but I know I would need to leave my employer in order to give 110%. I am contemplating the idea of at least passing one part while employed. Then leaving my employer to study FAR. I am considering to leave my current employer anyways, so it’s more of how my future employer would view that lapse.

Do firms match offers from other Big 4s for campus hires? I’ve received a campus offer from both

Would it be a bad move to let them know about the other offer and try negotiating? I feel it wont make a difference in the long run, but at the same time I don’t want to leave any money on the table if possible.

Thanks!
