How do I land a job in Vienna, Austria?

I'm a US Citizen with 4 YOE interested in marketing, communications, digital, and sustainability consulting.

I speak B2 German and would get fluent with more experience, but I'd be relying more on my English at first.

Would it be a more reliable and efficient play to apply for a US/global company with a presence there and try to get placed in Vienna, or to move there on a visa, take German courses to get fluent, and network my way into a position?

For those who came to London thru their firm’s global mobility program, what sort of visa did you get? And was it a route to settlement? (IE did that time count towards getting ILR eventually)?

My wife and I are considering relocating to a new city. I’ve been working with a recruiter who (I thought) gave me a good lay of the land. Which firms to meet with re lateral opportunities, which to avoid, etc. I’ve since spoken with a friend who has connections at other firms that could be a better fit. Do I bring in my recruiter or reach out through connections? Is using a recruiter beneficial to me, or am I better off on my own? How does their fee play in to what I could get as a package?

My total experience is 5 in QA, I attended Deloitte interview. First round was technical and it went quite well, they asked lot of theory questions. I answered few and quite I was not sure of answers. She gave feedback like my communication and confidence level is good and project wise I'm having good knowledge and coming to concept wise it's not upto the mark for experience.
