I do it top down and never had issues. So first your position at X consulting firm, followed by bullets about your internal responsibilities (this should be like 1-2 things, for example, lead anayltics offerings in the financial services space resulting in yada yada. Then a sub section for each position with a client underneath, followed by bullets specific to each project. So it might be “analytics manager at 10 billion investment firm” and then bullets for what you helped achieve there. I found that this approach helps orient the interviewer and helps bifurcate between what you do for your firm and what your experience was at each client. Biggest challenge with this approach is probably that it can eat up space quick but I always ensure the bullets are concise. In my experience, interviewers don’t want to know every little detail from the resume, you should just be highlighting the situation, behavior, outcome and can dive into the weeds a bit more on the call/interview.
OP- yea definitely don’t put all of them. I tend to hand pick the top 2-3 projects that are most relevant to whatever you are applying or the latest 2-3 and mark it as “selected project experience”. I guess it depends how far back some of the projects are and what the relevance is specific to the role (for example, it wouldn’t make sense to highlight a supply chain project if applying to something that has nothing to do with it). Whatever draws the most parallels to the job description/sector is what I’d go for or projects that had substantial impact as a result of your involvement. Feel free to DM me as well and Id be happy to send over a blueprint with examples of what it might look like based on the above - it might be clearer and make more sense to see an example.
For internal initiatives where I built products for my firm to sell / leverage across various clients. Third for implementation work where I jus mention that I’m capable of managing up to X work streams and Y team members at once
Any thoughts will be much appreciated, thanks!
