I can't believe this is an actual question in this day and age.. Ridiculous. To answer your question, if they have the credentials and the experience, I have no issues. I only managed a carrier-base for a year and saw no difference in issues raised for female vs male drivers. Granted, we brought on a lot more male drivers due to social stigma, but also male applicants on average definitely had more experience than female ones since only recently more women are breaking into the industry. If a woman has the qualifications, experience, and the passion to break into a male dominated industry knowing the gender struggles she has to face, no issues with hiring her
Thank you for stating this so eloquently. I was surprised to see someone posting this question, but I suppose we should take every opportunity to educate people who might be ignorant on the topic
Yes, we do all know what they say about female drivers: they are statistically safer than male drivers and are an excellent addition to any workforce. I thought everyone realized that by now. Am I missing something here?
You tell them! What a ridiculous question lol
This has gotta be a joke... right? Are you serious?
If what they say about female drivers is negative, please give them permission to contact me and I'll tell them what's what. We have a lot of different drivers delivering to our store and about half of them are women, I've not noticed any difference in the professionalism and hard work they exhibit. Competence has nothing whatsoever to do with gender
I feel positive about them personally because I'm one of them. It's a great job for those who are able to handle the long hours and constant travel. I tend to be a bit of a loner though, so the social aspects of most jobs really turn me away
I honestly hope you're trolling and just wanted to get people to comment, if so, good job! I couldn't let this one slide without saying that whether my workmates are male or female makes zero difference as long as they do their job properly and don't make the rest of us look bad
It's surprising that this question needs to be asked in today's society and is quite insulting. Women should have equal opportunity to truck driving just like Men. Take a look at recent social media trucking influencers, many are women and are doing an awesome job!
No, I don't. Why don't you elaborate more on what it is about female drivers?
Sounds like the typical man in trucking, can’t say I am surprised to hear it though.
My company has not received any applications from women wanting to become drivers, but if we did, I would feel completely comfortable with them driving a truck. Female drivers not being as good as male drivers is just a misogynist stereotype
Didn’t your post say that your company has had several female applicants? So now they don’t? Are you feeling called out for your ignorance and now backtracking?
Women are just as capable of being drivers as men. Do you really think there's some type of biological factor involved in the ability to drive a truck from one point to another?
I can't tell if this is serious. You really think a woman isn't capable of driving a truck?
