I just resigned to the job! This style of working is not effective or healthy, and will burned you out eventually. The worst part is when stakeholders and leaders still pursue high expectations on finishing the never ending overload and quick deliveries. Most of the cases this overload means you are doing the job of 3 or 4 people they want to save money on hiring. Your mental health is more important than working under this conditions.
Add in a nasty client, a petty co-worker and looming layoffs and you’ve neatly described our industry.

That’s a really good question. I have way too many tabs open too. I was going to just shut my whole computer down and start from scratch but then they all just re-populated. 🙄😂
It’s proven that multi-tasking does not work, so I set myself three things I must do that day, and that’s it - and they aren’t enormous tasks so that I’m not setting myself up for failure.
But it will be one or two really urgent thing and one thing that is on planned list, otherwise you only ever tick of urgent tasks.
I also block a whole day in my calender where I have no meeting and then every day a couple of meeting free hours, otherwise I just end up in calls all the time and never get any work done.
I share my tasks with my boss and my rational behind the prioritisation, and then if someone adds another task that’s also urgent, which happens from time to time, we agree on what I will temporarily halt. Otherwise you just keep taking on more and more and you never get through the to-do list.
I also like prioritisation tools like the 4 quadrants and the 80/20 approach. The second one is great because it really focuses your mind on the 20% of actions that will drive 80% impact.
And because I’m AuDHD, I use a 5 minute timer and a lockable reward box to get me started on a project as procrastination and distraction can be a struggle for me.
