Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

Agree with using the STAR method. I have yet to meet an employer that doesn't love a candidate who uses it. I also make sure to show them my personality in the interview to stand out from the crowd.

I don’t think I’ve heard of this, will have to look into it!
In an interview it's important to not simply assert things, but show the results. If you're doing something that can be quantified, be prepared to discuss the numbers, and ideally, how you improved them. Aspire to tell a coherent story, something that will resonate with the interviewer after the interview has ended.
Coach
That’s good, I’ll have to find a way to translate my own skills that way.
STAR method, what immediate need can you provide that position, show you, your personality, quantity everything whether numbers or percentages to show transferable skills. Can you learn new things, what do you do to stay sharp in the field? Ask questions, did you look the interviewers up and can you relate on a topic. Does it feel like a conversation? Those are sometimes the best as things flow, are answers clear and concise, do you stand out.
Coach
I’ve never heard of this star method I’ll need to do some research and check it out myself!
I am good for this job. I can give an interview. What kind of interview do you want?
Coach
An easy one preferably!
STAR method. Answer each question by describing the situation, task, action, and result. That way you are giving concrete examples that proves you can do what you say. Apparently there is a newer method now that does this even better--maybe a future commenter will know it and post.

I’ve never heard of this before! I’ll give it a go!!
Give examples of things you did, put a presentation together if you must. Become the story teller, problem you identified, obstacles you’ve encountered along the way, benefits after. You’re selling the story, the potential, how you navigate unknown, not just skills as most can be learned.
Coach
Presentation isn’t a bad idea if you get access to a screen, I guess specifics really help.
Always be descriptive, give names or specific situations that shows you aren’t full of it
Coach
Yeah that’s a solid plan I think.
