Did 4 rounds of interviews. Last 2 with 2 partners at EY. Haven’t heard back even after 1 month. One partner even commented “you will be a good addition to the team”. Hiring manager gave EY email after her interview call with me.
Fast forward two weeks, no communication. Recruiting was surprised that I was still chasing for this position, month later. Got to know last week that hiring team was continuing to interview candidates. Should I drop the idea to get hired? EY hasn’t rejected me yet.
You guys getting pizza parties?

Thankful for live performances 🎭 🎤 🎶

HISD observes Chavez-Huerta day… wth is that?
It’s interesting they don’t take off for certain holidays, but I don’t really think one day of celebrating the win will impact their education lol
One problem with that is not every kid has a place to go if school is cancelled for very long, and not every kid would want to celebrate that kind of thing…That used to happen when our high school teams made the state finals and the high school teachers got a free day to go to the game and travel as a school, and all of the elementary and middle school teachers whose children played on those teams had to take a personal day to miss school or had to pay for a sub. Thank heavens that got fixed, but how often does your local team win the World Series. Unless, of course, it isn’t your home team that won the World Series and why are you dismissing school for that?
The less time kids spend in public schools the better. Have you seen literacy and math skills scores? Kids should learn that hard work and success payoff. They aren’t learning that in public schools.
Why don’t you blame how these schools get funding. They know a ton of kids were going to miss and if a kid misses more than 10% of classes, the schools don’t get funding for that kid. By making it a holiday, it doesn’t hurt the district.
You can change this by who you vote for
I think it’s great if you don’t have to coordinate child care on the possibility of the Astros winning
I feel like this happened in 2017 as well. Not a big deal?
I don’t know. Most kids would probably skip anyway! Go STROS!! 🚀 🚀
I’m on the fence. On one hand, this is a once in a lifetime celebration (the entire city should be off).
On the other hand, some don’t have the means to find childcare as quickly (or affordable) as others.
For the older kids it's not such a big deal but for the younger kids its a bigger deal because what are parents going to do for child care? Some people don't have the luxury of being able to afford child care or having the ability to find someone to watch their child. Some people can't take the day off to watch their children. Some kids like to be in school so creating that unstructured day that was not planned creates havoc for that kid. You guys don't understand the impact that this has on some children who go to school bc they get fed their meals at school, get the attention and love they need at school, etc. The kids who need and strive for structure and routine. Its not always that easy to say just take a day off.
I don’t see it as a problem I work from home. It depends on the school district the child is in. It’s only one day and it’s not that bad. This is my opinion
You all nagging and complaining about schools being closed don’t have a simplest clue of the school system and how schools operate.
Unfortunately schools aren’t closed because they appreciate the value of celebration and joy and having fun all together as a community (wish that was the case), rather they are closed due to operational challenges. The number of teachers, school staff, security organizations, and even students that would be caring in sick or taking a day off (they have the right to do so) make it impossible for schools to operate. Buses running late, issues with food at the cafeteria, lack of security, impacted after school, so on and so forth. Those parents who can’t work from home, weren’t going to have it any easier if the schools were open anyway either because nothing was going to run smoothly and they would be complaining at school staff for days to come.
Yes I do have a school aged young child and yes he is home and I have had to work from home to give him attention all day.
It’s fine. I let my kids miss whenever they want, and they both have perfect GPAs. They both chose to go to school today after I gave them the option to stay home, since many of their friends in other school districts wanted to hang out today.
We also recently took them out of school for a week to go to on a non-school-related family holiday. Also fine. Didn’t harm their grades at all.
The one issue I have with it is that school districts canceling school days spontaneously makes life harder for families where parents don’t have the luxury of finding or affording child care for the following day. That is unfair to many families, and I resent the team and the school districts for not taking these families into consideration.
It was a total blind side as a single mom and brand new attorney with no family in Houston.
It would be fine if everyone has a grandparent that doesn’t work and can babysit at any time.
It would have been more thoughtful of the district to alert parents a week in advance of the possibility that school would be canceled if the Astros won, so parents could coordinate childcare.
Wish it was a Friday instead, but seems pretty harmless to me.
Well it’s more work on us to manage the kids during the day.
For a city this large to declare an off day so quickly is a problem for the majority of parents. My child had a mishap and we went to the doctor yesterday - the doc mentioned how many nurses and front office folk were out because they couldn’t scramble up childcare fast enough. They almost had to close the office.
Great for the kids but not for working parents. Luckily my husband and I both work from home, but we can’t take the day off unfortunately to enjoy the fun of the win. In our community there are many stay at home moms so not an issue for them and that’s likely the majority for our school. On our community FB groups, everyone was excited about it.
We’re in Katy ISD…they did not cancel school. I don’t think it’s necessary, really. My son, not so happy that all of the surrounding districts are out for today

The real question is why the daycare closed. That what’s I’m really upset about. 😂😂
