How do you get business as a real estate attorney? I'm a young attorney looking to bring in some Connecticut real estate business (closings, etc.) and I'm unsure where to begin or how to look for clients. Any ideas would be helpful. Thank you.

Lenders’ or borrowers’ counsel?

Either way, join your local chapter of groups like ULI, CREW, ACG, etc. More general nonprofit boards, etc. can also be helpful. If you specialize in one area of real estate, go to those conferences.

I am product designer with a fair amount of experience (6yrs).

Recently was interviewed for a Sr. role in Booking but unfortunately the team finds me better suited as a core individual contributor.

However I am really interested in joining the team at Booking, especially because of the design culture.

What should be my reasons to accept or not accept the offer from booking?

We have sales people in Canada and the US, the Canadians make 150K CAD and down here it’s 150K USD, the Canadians argue they should be making 30% more than the US colleagues to be equal bc of the exchange! I explain the salary is dependent on the market data for them in Canada, WHERE THEY LIVE, and you can’t compare it to the US employees and the market data down here. Overall they are both in the 75th% for total comp. for their industry. Am I wrong?

Any advice on shifting from association law to commercial real estate in FL?

I've been applying to jobs for months but every position wants at least 2yrs of experience in real estate transactions, usually way more. I'm at 1yr+ doing HOA/condo work but have had no opportunity to do real estate transactions like I expected. Seems like the only way to get the experience is to have nailed a big law gig right out of school and get put into that practice.
