I use this analogy when people ask me this question:
A job is like being on a train, you can work your way up to the first class cabin.
The train station is like unemployment. You could be there for an hour, you could be there for days if you don’t know the train schedule.
The best case scenario for quitting/ switching jobs is when two trains are next to each other, when they’re running at the same speed it’s as simple as taking a step from one train to the next.
Stopping at a station may seem easier to line up, but there’s always a risk another train may not come for a long time.

I love this. Thank you so much. That’s a really great point.
18 months minimum or have a very good reason to quit
General consensus for minimum on resume. Don’t want to come across as a job hopper
Joking aside, when you have a lot of thoughts that you’d rather be somewhere else, anywhere else, then you know that emotionally you are already climbing over the wall to get out. We all reach that part in our careers where we know “it’s time” and then we start to focus on finding our next great opportunity.
I once read a good advice although I’m wondering if it applies to jobs: “don’t quit on a bad day, quit on a day you are feeling good about <insert a sport or activity or job>”
I recently did this and feel great about my decision because I know I left at a peak
Trust me you will know and be at peace with that decision
I ponder this question every day. I entirely work from home and don't do much. I think the only thing that keeps me there is the idea that I'm 6 years away from retirement.
I’m stressed to hell, and starting to be forced to RTO so I’ve never been so tempted.
When your company doesn’t give you a raise when your company – double your workload you are doing a five person job. Why because he can’t keep anybody because they don’t have to talk to people. They overwork their people and they give them double work to do we doing a five persons job. That’s when it’s time to quit your job.
Totally agree, just jumped ship because of this
Need Benefits (i.e. health insurance, 401k, pension) …
I think when you start seeing signs like burn out and you have enough experience you can pivot to another industry or opportunity that might have better benefits
