Hello RSM coworkers! I am thrilled to be moving to RSM into a Scheduler roll. I just found out yesterday and want to be as prepared as possible in the next steps.
So here are my questions.
How long does the background study take? I'm guessing admin staff have a study that is faster and less complicated than someone in Tax ect.
When training at home what did you need that wasn't supplied by RSM? My home office is well stocked but I want to be as prepared as possible.
Thanks in advance!

How on earth would a 5 hour commute each day be considered acceptable ?
Close. Alpharetta to Riverdale
The real question is how far is the travel project from the office?
I can empathize with you. I’d reach out to your project’s manager (if you don’t know who this is yet, contact whoever staffed you and find out) and ask what everyone else is doing.
One hour is where I draw the line for being local, and that assumes I can Uber there and back every day. If I had to be out super early for a meeting, I still might stay at a hotel for a night nor two. But there's no way I'm spending two hours twice a day on public transport
I expensed my Uber and there's no way I would consider anything else for a commute like that
We always gives teams the option. I live in downtown Chicago and typically alternated nights home/away (ie no r/t days) even for Bolingbrook and Deerfield.
You need to settle this before you join the project and get it in writing. I just went through a similar ordeal and it did not end well for anyone involved.
I got verbal ok to expense the hotel then all the expense reports were rejected. I left the project and eventually got them approved but only after escalating several times.
I’m having a similar issue where my MD doesn’t understand why I’m having with a 2.5- 3 hr round trip commute. (He is simultaneously asking me why I’m not accomplishing more on a daily basis. 😐)
While it may not seem like a lot to some people it definitely impacts how sharp you are through the day. Are you commuting to local office or is this a travel project? I’m roughing out my 2.5-3hr local commute right now to save money at home but it is definitely tough to stay awake some days.
Update: after a 1.5 hr commute to home office I received a call to come to the client location. (Day of) Headed there now. Because of traffic to home office it is a 3 hour commute. Going to try and put my foot down today, hopefully I can arrange something 😔
