I think it depends more on what you actually are doing and the projects you work on. For example, Apple is known for outsourcing almost all of its IT in a division called IS&T as it is not its core business focus or competency. If you worked for them, it would be really hard to differentiate your experience from any other average company. Some companies like Microsoft are notorious for their contractor cas te system (orange badges).

how can you prove the type of work youre doing? couldnt you just make it up? IE make it sound more impactful than it is
Contract work, especially at top companies, can be very impressive. It shows adaptability, real-world impact, and often high trust from big organizations. Far from a “not good enough” signal.
