1 year but, but jumping agencies helped me get that title change as well
2 years average, 1 if you’re a rockstar, 3 if you’re a slow learner. Talk to your director about your growth plan. Do you know what things you need to learn to make it to the next level? Are you at an agency that levels only open when a seat opens?
This sounds about right. Slowest growth I had was Senior to Director. Our department used to have a lot less titles than Producers. So we tended to get stuck with one title forever. But we’re finally catching up with Associate BA, Associate Director, etc.
I came in at the manager level from another industry but 2 years is what I have seen *at agencies with growth plans.* ie “Here is the job description for this role which you will be slowly onboarded onto for the next two years and will earn the title once you have shown proficiency in x,y and z.” I have also worked at agencies where there was no growth plan and promotions were made randomly when/if a manager left and a the role became available :-/ I would avoid the later if you have the option.
