How long until you felt comfortable in ITS? Is it fair to say with all the changes it would take longer to get comfortable in ITS?

I don’t think anyone is ever truly comfortable. Get confident with your ability to learn and you’ll do fine. Forever learning in ITS.

I say 6-7 yrs till you feel comfortable enough to know where to research. No one will truly feel comfortable with everything but by around that time you should be able to spot what the issues could be even if you dont know the answers

The good news is, everyone else only has 3 years of experience too.

Not exactly true bc the old rules still exit. New rules were just layered on top.

Yea I hear that and I’ve put my time in reading but adding how disregarded payments impact tax allocation and trying to juggle how foreign jurisdictions will tax.. wtf. I give up.

Keep working at it. Get used to changing rules. You’ll get there.

Would getting a MST help?

Looking for advice (& empathy): Started out in advertising, then became a journalist. Moved to the US for grad school, and back to advertising few years ago. Now stuck at a company where I’m deeply unhappy but they sponsor the visa (not H1B, so it’s not a huge ask). Also not too sure of advertising as my heart is still in journalism but this pays the bills. Wary of other companies that might push me into working (most) weekends and evenings +Still don’t fully understand the US job market. Tips?

I've been in manual testing for 80% of my career. Despite attempts to transfer into a more code-centric role, I never got the opportunity to do so. Now that I'm in a management role, I feel like it's too late to enhance my programming skills.

Suppose I want to transition into a developer role, will self-study be sufficient for passing the necessary requirements for coding jobs? Lately, I've been learning python and using what I learned by solving problems at leetcode.
