How many days of PTO does each of big 4 has? For some reason I thought all big 4 has unlimited PTO policy just to shake off the huge liabilities on their books, but apparently I was wrong based on my potential offer with one of them.

22 days, plus 3 or 4 flex days. Sick time is separate and unlimited.

like

20 days plus most federal holidays and 2 firm wide shutdowns ≈ 37 days. If can’t take a holiday because of client work you can take it as a floating holiday

like

Max out at 176hrs at PwC. You earn PTO hrs based on years and level

So with the holiday shutdown, not all of the days off are “free”. You need to use vacation days or flex days for those. That’s essentially the purpose of flex days. Depending on the weekday of the 4th of July , the firm also shuts down that whole week, and a couple of those days need to be used with flex days or PTO.

Flex days are added to your holiday balance, so they don’t carry over to the next year, use or lose.

like

I have 30 days not including holidays or firm disconnect.

Days will depend on role and level.

EY has unlimited PTO

It seems like only EY has unlimited PTO policy. Thanks everyone!

Seems Deloitte has the lowest PTO and no sick days either.

I thought that too of some of the middle eastern and Caribbean island managers I worked with on a job once, but they turned out to be the most supportive and inquisitive. But I feel ya, sometimes you can sense if they'll be hostile toward you. But I don't give af at this point. In the end, they're still professionals working for Big 4 and probably won't dare say anything to you about it, even if it does bother them. Way I see it, ignorant people like that don't go very far working in our industry.

If you had a choice, which would you choose?

A) having the annual holiday party
B) splitting the holiday party budget equally between employees as bonus

BONUS Q: do you know your agency's budget?

Partners - Do you ever take vacations?

I have been at my current firm for about 1.5 years, and in that entire time the partner in my group hasn't been out of the office a single time. Is that normal? I can't tell if it's standard for big law partners to not take time off, if the dynamics for my group may be different (only 1 partner in the entire group), or it the partner I work with is just a masochist.
