I had decided to go the quality over quantity route for my applications. I'd give customized cover letters and tailored resumes to my targeted companies that fit what I was looking for.
I sent a total of 47 applications over the course of three months. I got 4 interviews and 1 offer.
For me, about 15 applications. I received three interviews, did two of them, and finally got 1 offer.
A TON. In the end, the most success I had was by networking with friends of friends and my parents friends and stuff. Once you have one internship, even if it sucked, it opens the door to SO MANY MORE opportunities. Networking can suck and it's awkward a lot of the time, but it's really the best course of action. There's a reason everyone says so!
Too many to count. For over a month I applied to 5-10 a day. I was looking at 4 different cities because I had places to stay due to family. I had 4 interviews and 2 offers. I didn’t get my first interview request until about a month and a half after I started applying.
Wow, that sounds like an intensive search. That's lucky you were able to apply in so many cities.
way too many to even count. I forget how many it took till I landed an internship. it felt like it was in the thousands though. Just keep trying you'll find one. Don't give up!
Thanks for that encouragement, I needed it!
God only knows how many internships I applied to while in college. Production studio might not be easy to land if it’s your first internship.
My first internship was at a large 8 day film festival and I was one of 80 interns. Later I interned on a new podcast. With those experiences on my resume I could not land an internship during the fall of my senior year, and finally found something for the spring semester.
Thanks for sharing. It's helpful to understand what realistic expectations might be. I don't want to unnecessarily limit myself, but it's helpful to understand that it can take time - and it's not just me.
Probably sent over 50 applications in the last 2 months, eventually found something through my school’s alumni facebook group. Connections really go a lot farther than submitting a resume on Linkedin. I’d suggest networking as much as possible - sending cold emails might work too. Try and find out who the recruiter is for a job listing and message or email them personally, that can boost your chances at your application getting looked over properly. Good luck!
I’m closing in on 50, and still nothing. My parents told me I wasn't trying hard enough. Just keep trying.

I got the offer three weeks before the beginning of the fall semester. It was close lol.

I didn’t receive my first offer until mid April so you have plenty of time. Some companies move extremely fast with their hiring process. I applied on a Thursday, got an interview the following Tuesday and an offer that Friday. Keep applying and you’ll find something.
