How under utilized are you? What's your actual vs goal?
You're*
You should really talk to your counselor or a POEd to explore other deployment opportunities. If you resign mentally this will show
I did. I actually spoke to my counselor and PPED over desperate lunches and they assured that I would not be laid off. Both mentioned trying to move me into a different industry in the group. This was 3 months ago. (I have received 5s and 4 my whole career).
So I guess what’s the downside of staying unassigned until laid off? It seem like a win-win. Collect a solid paycheck mainly sitting around (pretending to be busy or doing PD) then get some exit package when its layoff time if things don’t pick up. Also what are layoff packages people have seen?
(Also typo in my original question I’m a senior 2 being progressed to senior 3)
If you're getting let go, typically you receive a vague calendar invite from a Partner/Executive Director that says something along the lines of 'Let's Connect' or 'Career Conversation'
40% the group average is 80%. senior 3 with a average 3 rating. I don’t have any projects lined up. More helping as needed when asked. I’ll probably be on the layoff list?
Not gonna sugar coat it, but your scenario seems bad. You're utilized at half of the group average and aren't being staffed on jobs, which is a huge red flag. Throw into the fact that you're in a promotion year and this is even more of a concern. Seniors who are on track to get promoted don't have this kind of downtime. You never know what will happen and I don't want to say you're for sure getting laid off, but if I were you, I'd start looking for other jobs now just to be safe.
Thank you for the honesty. This cruise is coming to an end. Woot! Do you know if I stay and I do get laid off will I get an exit package? Ie severance or unemployment.
Wouldn’t be all that bad and I can do other things till laid off since I’m not that busy anyways. Especially since these speciality groups pay very well. I might was well continued getting those checks
4 weeks at best for EY
You should get some severance if laid off. Also you'll be able to collect unemployment so definitely don't quit! Just start searching for jobs now. That way when you do get laid off you'll have an idea of what you want to move into since you've been looking for a couple months.
