Agencies usually promote faster than regular corporations, the bigger the corporation the most likely it will be at least a year before you get promoted. They have a very formal promotion schedule tied to financial
reporting and performance. You might get an exception since you are taking on more work than you “should” be.
Regardless, I would think about how to build a case of why you should get promoted or a bonus. List out your role and responsibilities for the position you are in and then list out all the extra tasks and responsibilities you are now doing bc someone quit.
Figure out the extra hours per day and week you are working bc of the extra responsibilities.
You need to show how much more value you are bringing to the company by having extra tasks and responsibilities.
It’s about the value you bring and how that has helped the company. What happens if you did not do this extra work. Can it be quantified? Not necessarily by media dollars but by the tasks and responsibilities if you did not do them. How other things would not get done down the line if you did not accomplish them.
Thank you! This definitely helped.
On top of proof reading the billing each month for all media. I know I’m still relatively new in my career (graduated from college in May 2019), but I also feel like I’ve done enough to prove that I should be promoted to media manager and it’s getting to the point where I can’t keep coming to work each day and doing so much work for an entry level salary. Do you have any advice?
Thank you!!
