120K unless you are okay living with roommates.
I’ve made the move to Toronto recently. $110-120K+ about right for 1 person. $150K+ for 2 people. I know people on less who somehow make it work.
Rent is a LOT! You’ll be looking at condos only- For a decent area $2.7K+ for 1-bed, $3K+ for 2 bed.
@CanadianTire1 Can you please inform on housing with such cost in Toronto? This is something I can afford as I've been thinking of moving out of the shared space I'm currently in.
I came to TO @ 90k with a roommate and was pretty comfortable (1-2 vacays, a 4 to 6 nights out a month, gym membership and 1-2k savings per month). Equivalent without a roommate is closer to 130k IMO
Also depends on a few factors like whether you have a family, want a house vs a condo, or are ok with commuting.
Depends on your family size and life goals.
If it’s only 1 you can do much with little if you’re willing to live like a student with roommates.
Also depends which part of Toronto you’re living in
Lol it takes a lot of $$ to live comfortably here.
I mean is there really a number that’s believable at this point?
Move to Hamilton if you want something more affordable...it's not too bad of a commute to Toronto.
I would say comfortable is a very broad number but if I had a number in mind it would be $200k CAD for a single person and closer to $300k CAD if you have a family.
300k is a safe pay
For a single person?! I mean, i guess it’s “safe pay” to have excess money
