I have 17k in federal loans. Not the worst all things considered, but it's still quite the burden
250k federal. I’ll go crawl to my corner now.
Sorry, just saw this - I’m a lawyer. I went to an Ivy League law school and also have debt from my Ivy League undergrad. Bottom line: go to schools that give you scholarships.
About 52k federal
37.5k in federal
About 18k in federal and 11k in personal
I have 28k in private student loans. Slowly but surely making a dent...
I took personal loans from people to pay off all federal or private loans to avoid the interest for religious reasons. But honestly, the interest on these student loans is such a scam, I hope you all can get out of it.
What did you graduate with?? What's your tc now? Was it worth it??
I do mostly m&a in the financial services industry (investment/asset management and private equity deals). I worked for 3 years after undergrad before going back to school. I was no where near the oldest person in my class, so the age isn’t an issue.
55K private loan
50K federal loan
I did undergrad at nearby school and dormed. For grad school I got my employer to pay for almost all.
I don’t work for BNYM anymore, instead I work for tech.
You might say that is a lot of debt, however income wise I am making $225K+ and have no rent.
Current balance: $292k, all federal. Interest rates were insane when I was in law school - I borrowed $170k, I have paid back $100k yet the $2k a month I pay still doesn't even cover the interest. Can't wait until I am 51 when they'll be forgiven (and probably taxed by then). Ughhhh
I have nearly 200k of federal loans and no private loans. I wasn't ever able to get private loans and I am drowning in student loan debt but hey.....I have that degree so thats all that matters.
