How much liquid cash as a multiple of monthly expenses and actual dollar amount would you want to take 6-months to a year off comfortably and do you have dependents?

Depends on your situation…do you have a wife and kids? If not, 2 years of expenses covered. It could take you a year to find a new job

It that doesn’t need to be in liquid cash. I might hold 9 months cash and then each month decide if you sell a month of stock or wait another month to sell.

I have a credit card haha

I agree with two years - one years’ worth for time off and another as emergency fund savings. We always keep a years’ worth in savings now, and we have 3 kids and several rental properties.

Are you not receiving an income? Positive cashflow is income, so I am not as concerned with liquid cash. My non-W2 income is more than my W2 income right now. I am looking to build this to 4X before I leave my W2, this way the profit will be 2X my income after all costs are a paid.

How does a sole engineer at a company go about getting management to actually care how production machines run? I’m the only mechanical engineer at my company dealing with a half dozen cranky production managers who think that I can “work my magic” on a machine. It’s not magic, just ignorance about the machine actually works. How to I get a manager to stop caring about the end product long enough for me to actually teach them about their own machine?

Morning all. I am looking for a favour/solid advice. I've been in the interview process for a dream role over the past month or so and just found out I didn't get the job after final round 🙃.

Unfortunately this isn't the first time this has happened during the past year searching. Looking for a SC level role within healthcare/public sector consulting firm. I know the job scene is a bit miserable currently but if anyone in the bowl is aware of a role I would love to have a chat.

Thanks all

My uncle does this (he’s a realtor) and usually gets 2-3x return. Obviously there is huge risk because property prices can change a lot in 1-2 years, but at the same time the upside is hard to ignore.

Anyway I protect myself against the downside risk? (other than loosing my down payment)

What do you all think of fundrise and start engine Real estate Reit ? Any experience? Would you invest here if you didn’t have the time to actually buy and rent properties? Any insight is welcome.
